IMG_3656

Today we are so pleased to have a guest post from the founder of Life in Abundance, one of our global partners. We met Florence Muindi over a year ago, and her heart and passion for the communities she serves is so apparent in her actions and words. We are so excited to be partnering with this exceptional organization, and hope you enjoy reading about the impact and influence they are having in one of the many countries they work in.

Nearly 15 years ago, Life In Abundance International (LIA) began transformational development work in Ethiopia, where my husband,

Spotlight on The Openhouse Project

Read below to learn about one of our international strategic partner churches, located in Costa Rica, and to hear stories of how lives are being changed in an affluent community in this vibrant county.

The Openhouse Project in Costa Rica was formed by friends who wanted to reach a segment of the population that wasn’t being reached —the upper middle to upper class.  Unfortunately, the majority of Protestant churches in Costa Rica (and Latin America, for that matter) are very small, simple, and unattractive—three adjectives that are unappealing to that demographic.

Openhouse is trying things that haven’t been done before in that

Success in Education! The Backbone of Development …

Ngaamba Students

globalX and The 410 Bridge partner in three countries around the world—Kenya, Haiti and starting this year, Uganda. In Kenya, globalX partners in the Ngaamba cluster of communities where there are seven primary schools.

The 410 Bridge’s model of community-initiated holistic development means that all areas of need are addressed. Education is just one of those areas of need, but it’s the “backbone of development.” Without a strong educational system, development (that which people do for themselves) is much more difficult. Over the past few years, quality improvement programs have been launched in the seven primary schools in Ngaamba.

Corporate Prayer Monday: Feb 11, 2013

In the spirit of this Thursday’s famous holiday, Valentine’s Day, today the focus of our corporate prayer time is all about LOVE. Yesterday, Joel Thomas, the lead pastor of North Point Community Church, spoke about how God IS love.

1 John 4:7-9

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that

When Helping Hurts

One of our go-to books when it comes to how we want to operate as a missions division is When Helping Hurts. For those who have not read it, we wanted to give you the guiding principles found in this book.We highly suggest to our teams that they read the book together and pre-decide how they will respond in situations they face while on their trips, using these guiding principles.

All material below is from When Helping Hurts, by Steve Corbett and Brian Fikkert.

What is poverty?
Poverty is often thought of as the lack of material resources or

Corporate Prayer Monday: January 21, 2013

Happy Monday to all of our globalX supporters and friends!

Today is the day we pray together for globalX, our mission and vision, our trips, our partners, and more.

Today let’s focus on Romans 12:11-12:

“Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”

As we head into this week please join us in praying for the staff of our partners, some who work day after day to serve at-risk families and children and others who focus on creating churches that unchurched people love to attend.

1/14/13 Prayer

This weekend members of our team had the privilege of sitting with staff from two of the organizations globalX works with.

One of our visitors, Florence Muindi, is the founding president and CEO of Life in Abundance, an organization working toward holistic community development in eight countries around the world, including Ethiopia and Jamaica, two locations where we will be partnering with them.
Check out what they are doing at http://liaint.org.

We, along with Florence, spent time with James and Jennifer Ward of The 410 Bridge. Partnering with them for several years now, we have sent hundreds of people
