March Spain College Trip Review

By: David Gutlay
This year Carolyn Norton and I led a globalX team of eight college students from Georgia Tech and Georgia State heading to Sevilla, Spain.
While there, our team partnered with Parque Este, a local church in Sevilla. Like North Point, Parque Este shares the same vision of leading people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. If you were to guess that the predominant religion of Spain is Catholicism, you would be exactly right. In fact, Spain is over 96 percent Catholic and less than one percent Protestant Christian. People in Spain are extremely religious, holding on

For Spring Break this year our team of 13 headed to San Salvador, El Salvador and La Casa de mi Padre for what turned out to be a journey we will never forget. Our adventure began at our first team meeting, which honestly was uncomfortable, with no shortage of name tags or icebreakers. It continued during our team retreat where we learned a little more about each other and began to trust one other. Finally, the adventure flourished as lifelong friendships developed during our week together in El Salvador. It was clear that God knew what he was doing when he formed

Thanks for joining us in prayer this week. Throughout 2013 globalX will send 70 trips to almost 20 destinations around the world. Today we want to thank God for filling these teams, and for knitting together the people that he wanted to participate on each of these teams. We are so thankful for his provision, especially as we prepare to send our summer trips, leaving in May, June, and July. When we decide what trips we will send each year, we pray that the right people will be placed on these teams, and that life change will occur for them

Can you believe it is March 4 already? Can you believe it is 2013? Time seems to be flying by, and with the passage of time we are one step closer to sending our first group of trips.
Today we are going to focus our prayer on this first group of trips leaving in March. These three trips are special because they are filled with a lot of first time trip participants, so we want to pray for them and the experiences they are about to have.
Please join us in praying for our two spring break college teams heading

globalX and The 410 Bridge partner in three countries around the world—Kenya, Haiti and starting this year, Uganda. In Kenya, globalX partners in the Ngaamba cluster of communities where there are seven primary schools.
The 410 Bridge’s model of community-initiated holistic development means that all areas of need are addressed. Education is just one of those areas of need, but it’s the “backbone of development.” Without a strong educational system, development (that which people do for themselves) is much more difficult. Over the past few years, quality improvement programs have been launched in the seven primary schools in Ngaamba.

Presidents’ Day
Today in the United States we celebrate Presidents’ Day. Presidents’ Day is often seen as one of those obscure holidays that many people know as just another day when their kids are out of school, retailers offer some great deals, and they can’t go to the bank. However, it is popularly recognized as the day we honor George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, since their birthdays are both in February (Feb 22 and 12, respectively). The day is sometimes understood as a celebration of the birthdays and lives of all U.S. presidents.
We thought we would take a

It’s rather hard to believe that just a few weeks ago I was in Cape Town, South Africa, working and playing with children native to that exotic, yet impoverished place. I am home in Atlanta, GA, USA, but a big part of my heart is still in that strange and, now, familiar place.
South Africa is an uneven blend of a small, yet present affluent sector and vast, heartbreaking poverty set against a backdrop of some of the most breathtaking geographic beauty one can ever behold.
I knew very little of South Africa, much less Cape Town, when I applied

In the spirit of this Thursday’s famous holiday, Valentine’s Day, today the focus of our corporate prayer time is all about LOVE. Yesterday, Joel Thomas, the lead pastor of North Point Community Church, spoke about how God IS love.
1 John 4:7-9
7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that

As we begin our week together, we are praying Romans 15:13 for each of you:
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Today we pray for those people who are feeling a tug to go on a trip this year. In the last few hours before our application deadline for summer trips hits, please pray that they will have the courage to get online and apply for a trip. We are thankful for several that we
