It may be raining outside…

This is Ken (with the help of Sarah) again, blogging for the globalX Brazil Groups Team.

Today, we awoke to a slight rain. As the day progressed this turned into a steady heavy rain. The team of four had gotten in pretty late so no one was up very early. We met for breakfast and then met again for a strategy session @ 10am. We then broke into teams again for another couple of hours of planning/preparation. We got a call from Paulo (Capela’s Senior Pastor) asking us to go to lunch. After a nice, relaxing meal we spent the afternoon at the church preparing for Dave’s second training on media production. Philip, Heather and Ken met with the Capela staff, at their normally scheduled staff meeting. This was an awesome meeting that was mutually encouraging for our team and the Capela leadership.

The seven of us went to dinner at Arnaldo’s (see pictures) based on the recommendation of the four who ate there last night.

Arnaldo’s isn’t your typical hot dog joint. It started out as one hot dog stand but has grown into a franchise with two locations. They don’t open until 6 p.m. and stay open until all hours of the night. It isn’t unusual to find them packed at 2 a.m. on a weeknight.

We partook in their famous Hot Dog Frango which is a carnival of flavors in your mouth. It consist of a beef hot dog, shredded seasoned chicken on a hoagie roll with tomatoes, mustard, homemade mayo and ketchup. When paired with their super secret sauce the experience is unforgettable. (Sarah wrote this paragraph… she does marketing for a living.)

We then made our way to the church were Dave did another amazing job presenting the basics of video production to another large group of Capela volunteers.

Please pray for a great turn out for Wednesday’s Community Group Leader Training and Thursday’s meeting for anyone interested in being in a Community Group. Pray for the team, as we try to cast vision for what Authentic Community is and how important group life is for everyone’s spiritual growth.
